About Elder Louis...
Elder Leslie D. Louis was born on the Island of Ceylon (today known as Sri Lanka) and grew up there through his boyhood days. He completed his secondary education in Maryland after his family immigrated to the United States. Graduating from Southern Adventist University with a B.A. in Religion and a few years later with a M.A. in Education from Andrews University, he chose to focus thirty-two years of his ministry in Seventh-day Adventist education. He has served as a teacher, principal, a superintendent of education, and was the vice-president of the Gulf States Conference before he was elected to serve as the 37th president of the Carolina Conference of Seventh-day Adventists beginning in 2012. His wife Carole is truly the love of his life. They have two married adult children and two precious granddaughters. This year marks a special milestone of 40 years both in his service for the Seventh-day Adventist Church and also in his marriage to Carole. The greatest passion of his heart is his love of Jesus and an earnest desire to be His faithful servant leader.
Elder and Mrs. Louis have two adult children who are married. Their son Christopher and his wife Rebecka completed their Masters degrees at Andrews University and are teachers of English in Charlotte, N.C. They have a baby girl named Rosalind. Their daughter Catherine and her husband Greg are graduates of Loma Linda University and serve as physicians in Charleston, S.C. They too have a little girl named Isla. Rosalind and Isla are two of the greatest joys of Grandpa and Grandma Louis!
That evangelism and discipleship will be the heartbeat of all that we do in Christ’s name, fulfilling the great commission of Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”
