In the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon said - "While I was still searching but not finding - I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all." (Eccl 7:28) In the Bible, we can think of many examples of women to support this statement beginning in Genesis with Eve and ending in Revelation with the symbolic harlot! But Moses records in Genesis 29 a very fitting description of a woman -- a Shepherdess named Rachel -- that I have personally adopted as the basis for our Shepherdess goals and the formulation of our Mission Statement. 

Mission Statement:

"While he [Jacob] was talking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess." ~ Genesis 29:9 As a Shepherdess we need to tend to our Father's sheep, and bring them to the well to receive life-giving water not forgetting that our first flock to tend to is our own family.

Goals:

The Carolina Conference sponsored Shepherdess program was formed to assist the WIFE of currently employed ministers in:

• Personal and spiritual growth
• Clarification of her role as a minister's wife
• Development of a team ministry with her husband, uniquely suited to her own interests and abilities
• Training as a paraprofessional in the ministry
• Finding fellowship and a support system
• Developing closer home relationships

It is my desire and prayer that our pastor's wives be upright women and a true Shepherdess, leading her flocks, firstly her own children and then the women in her congregations, to the Good Shepherd. God bless our organization to that end.
