The 10,000 Presidential Prayer Partners is a fast-growing group of Carolina Conference constituents who take matters such as these to their knees. We invite you to join us, and make this monthly list a matter of prayer. Together we seek the Lord for His answers and provisions to every need that we bring before Him.

2. A NEW BUS FOR MOUNT PISGAH ACADEMY

We have a wonderful group of young people at Mount Pisgah Academy and a dedicated, Christ-centered staff who desire to lead our students in a closer walk with Jesus. I know because I have been there on a number of occaisions. I was there a few weeks ago to have the evening worship for our students. I enjoyed a delightful time sharing lunch with a few of them. Last month, several of our students attended a Bible Conference at Camp Kulaqua in Florida. Elder Stanley Knight, our Conference Youth Director spoke of how proud he was of them, they were always on time and present at each of the meetings.

An unfortunate occurrence took place as the students were ready to return home. The bus broke down! I am most grateful that it did not break down on the side of the road – especially with such frigid temperatures as we’ve been experiencing over the past several weeks in January. Thankfully arrangements were made with the help of Fletcher Academy’s bus and transportation from Camp Kulaqua to safely get all of our students safely back on our campus at MPA.

There are times when we pray about small things. There are other times we pray over larger items. But nothing is too small or too big for the God that you and I worship!  WE TRULY NEED A RELIABLE BUS FOR OUR ACADEMY!

Will you partner in praying with me about this need?  If the Lord convicts you to send $1, $10, $100, $1,000, $10,000 or more – it can be your part in fulfilling a major need at our academy this year. By God’s grace and with His blessing, we can make this prayer wish into the reality of an answered prayer by the end of this year.

Of course we need some large donors to accomplish raising almost $200,000 for this newer coach bus. However, let’s not minimize even the small gift. I am reminded of  two well-known tid-bits of motherly advice during my childhood days – “Leslie, little drops of water make a mighty ocean,” and “Leslie, a penny saved is a penny earned.”

When we all pray together and commit to a task, God can do amazing things – far beyond our imagination!

I’ll keep you posted about the MPA Bus Fund as prayers go up and funds come in!  If the Lord impresses you to do so, simply make your contributions to:

3. PRAYING FOR OUR CHURCH DISTRICTS & PASTORS

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, these words of encouragement were penned for our churches: “Ask of me, and I will answer your requests. The promise is made on condition that the united prayers of the church are offered, and in answer to these prayers there may be expected a power greater than that which comes in answer to private prayer. The power given will be proportionate to the unity of the members and their love for God and for one another.” [Manuscript Releases, vol. 9, p. 303]

Praying for our pastors is very important. They are serving God, and the attacks of the enemy are relentless. The pastors need to be covered in prayer on a daily basis.

Our prayers should be personalized by saying the title of pastor along with their name since they hold a position of sacred trust for God’s remnant church.

Here’s a suggestion for this month: Why not pray for our pastors by name using these seven scriptural passages:

1.      Acts 6:4............as they continually give themselves to prayer

2.      Acts 6:4............and the ministry of the Word.

3.      Gal 3:13............for they are redeemed from the curse of the law.

4.      Heb 13:21..........Work in them that which is well-pleasing in Your sight.

5.      2Cor 9:8............Let all grace abound toward them, having sufficiency in all things.

6.      2Cor 9:8...........and an abundance for every good work.

7.      2Cor 9:6...........Because they have sowed bountifully, they will reap bountifully.

4. PRAISING GOD FOR EVERY BLESSING AND LOOKING FORWARD TO GREAT THINGS HE HAS IN STORE FOR THE CAROLINAS!

The Good News is that we raised $970,592.09 for Evangelism in 2017! That was an increase by $77,377.06 from 2016 – an increase of 8.66%. No…we didn’t make our million dollar goal, but we will continue to keep that goal before us again. A million dollars seems like a lot, but with all of us doing our part, we can reach this goal this year and every year to proclaim the gospel message across the Carolinas till that glorious day when Jesus welcomes us home. How can this happen?

5. REMBMERING AND KEEPING IN FOCUS OUR 2020 VISION

VISION II: Welcoming Traveling Pilgrims

PRAY AND COMMIT to place attractive and updated signage of welcome greetings by the Seventh-day Adventist Church at key Interstate entry points into North and South Carolina with our conference website information.

We currently have 9 Interstate entry points on East-West bound Interstates 40 & 26 as well as North-South Bound Interstates 77, 85, & 95 in North Carolina.

In South Carolina we currently have 7 Interstate entry points on East-West bound Interstates 20, 26 as well as North-South Bound Interstates 77, 85, and 95.

Utilizing people from within our conference territory, we designed signage that could serve as a fresh and invitational welcome to the State of North Carolina as well as South Carolina.

Our desire is to share a visual picture of an invitational church made up of a multi-ethic and multi-generational outreach in its mission and outreach.

Currently we have a sign on I-95 South entering into North Carolina from Virginia and another sign on I-95 South entering into South Carolina from North Carolina. Because the lease of these lighted signs are quite costly, our goal is to maintain at least two major Interstates signs but also vary them based on availability and visibility.

Remember that little children’s song – “This little light of mine; I’m going to let it shine; all around the neighborhood, I’m going to let it shine. Hide it under a bush – Oh no, I’m going to let it shine; Let it shine till Jesus comes, I’m going to let it shine.”

There are many who have never heard the word Seventh-day Adventists and many who have misperceptions of who we are. It is time for us to  truly be grateful for how God has guided and blessed this church to be the final torch of truth that is warm and inviting to every travelling pilgrim through our states of North and South Carolina.

6. SATURATED WITH THE WORD

As a President’s Prayer Partner, we again invite you to truly be a people of the Word. As Seventh-day Adventists we embrace 28 Fundamental truths that are based on the Bible alone. For the several months, we have focused on four passages of scripture each month that are foundational to each of our fundamental beliefs. Here’s our next set of 4 memory passages for February to coincide with our thirteenth fundamental belief as Adventists regarding what we believe about the Remnant and its Mission. Let’s place His Word prayerfully in our hearts each day of this month.

I carry a set of these passages with me in my car and repeat them aloud as I drive from place to place. My goal is to prayerfully say one verse five times a day for a week, thus embracing the promise of God’s Word – “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against Thee.”
Psalm 119:11. Repeat these passages over and over till they become a part of your very being.  Of course, you can always choose to do more. Prayerfully consider how you can saturate your soul and make His Word a part of your heart every day.

FUNDAMENTAL BELIEF # 13: The Remnant and It's Mission

The universal church is composed of all who truly believe in Christ, but in the last days, a time of widespread apostasy, a remnant has been called out to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This remnant announces the arrival of the judgment hour, proclaims salvation through Christ, and heralds the approach of His second advent. This proclamation is symbolized by the three angels of Revelation 14; it coincides with the work of judgment in heaven and results in a work of repentance and reform on earth. Every believer is called to have a personal part in this worldwide witness.

  1. Jeremiah 32:3    (NKJV) — “But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.”

  2. Micah 2:12   (NKJV) —“I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like sheep of the fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture; They shall make a loud noise because of so many people.”

  3. I Peter 3:13-14  (NKJV) — “Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.”

  4. Revelation 12:17  (NKJV) — “And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
