December, 2018 Carolina's 10,000 P5, part 1

The 10,000 President’s Prayer Partners is a fast-growing group of Carolina Conference constituents who take matters such as these to their knees. We invite you to join us, and make this monthly list a matter of prayer. Together we seek the Lord for His answers and provisions to every need we bring before Him.

1. “WE ARE NEARING HOME” ON OUR EVANGELISM FUNDING GOAL!

PRAY FOR GOD’S SPECIAL BLESSINGS AS WE PRESS FORWARD TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE IN OUR RACE FOR VICTORY IN JESUS

With only two more months of reporting to follow, we are nearing our super goal of one million dollars that we reached and exceeded in 2014 for the work of evangelism.

As a young boy growing up on the island of Sri Lanka, whenever we were coming back from a field trip back to our mission school, I remember all of us joining in a song of joy and triumph as we were rounding those hair-pinned bends up the mountain to our campus. The words of that old hymn and especially its refrain still awaken a smile on my face:

We are nearing home! We are nearing home!

See the splendor gleaming from the domes afar!

See the glory streaming from the gates ajar!

There we soon will enter, nevermore to roam,

Hear the angels singing’ we are nearing home!

We are nearing home!

We are indeed nearing home! As I watch the events unfolding in the world around me, my certainty in the nearness of a coming of a Savior is deeply embedded in my heart. There is a sadness being fostered and festered by the arch enemy of mankind because he knows his days are numbered. Horrific gun violence, increased racial bigotry, an escalation in the climate of hatred in our society, an unprecedented atmosphere of political unrest and mistrust, natural disasters in wind, waves and flames have created unnatural calamities here at home and around the globe.

What is even sadder to see taking place before our eyes is how that enemy of mankind is attacking and impacting the remnant church of Jesus Christ with a greater level of viciousness and intensity than ever before.

We have a message of urgency to share with our loved ones, our friends, our neighbors, and our communities. Now more than ever before, the resources we invest in evangelism and discipleship will keep our eyes focused on Jesus and our energies invested in the only mission of the church. Join me in prayer for a victorious 2018 finish in our prayer for Carolina’s evangelism resources.

2. PRAISE YE THE LORD! HALLELUJAH!

Just this week, we received the wonderful news of God’s amazing answer to

a major prayer initiative that we’ve been uplifting before the Lord! Adventist

Health Systems, Inc. has just notified us that they have approved our 2018 grant

request and will render a matching $50,000 toward the purchase of a newer

bus for Mount Pisgah Academy. With the funds in hand of almost $12,000 in

hand, this has given us a major step forward to raise the remaining $38,000

toward realzing our dream of having a much-needed bus for our school. A Huge

“Thank you” to Lucy Hall, our MPA Business Development Director, and to all our

administrative team at MPA who have been working so faithfully to raise the

needed funds toward this goal!

I CHOOSE TO KEEP THIS PRAYER PETITION, WHICH WE LAUNCHED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR, BEFORE YOU THROUGH THE REMAING MONTHS OF 2018. LET’S CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR GOD’S PROVISION TILL WE REACH THE REALITY OF THIS DREAM COME TRUE FOR MPA!

There are times when we pray about small things. There are other times we pray over larger items. But nothing is too small or too big for the God that you and I worship! WE TRULY NEED A RELIABLE BUS FOR OUR ACADEMY!

When we all pray together and commit to a task, God can do amazing things – far beyond our imagination!

We will continue to pray for God’s blessings till we realize the fulfillment of our prayers by not giving up on this project. We’ll continue to press forward to realizing our goal!

Would you make this a matter of sincere prayer? You can be a part of making this dream come true too! Every investment – small or large – can add up toward realizing this big Christmas gift for the students at our academy. As we continue to pray about this need, may the Lord impress each of us as President’s Prayer Partners and others too to do their part . All contributions can be directed to either:

3. PRAYING FOR OUR CHURCH DISTRICTS & PASTORS

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, these words of encouragement were penned for our churches: “Ask of me, and I will answer your requests. The promise is made on condition that the united prayers of the church are offered, and in answer to these prayers there may be expected a power greater than that which comes in answer to private prayer. The power given will be proportionate to the unity of the members and their love for God and for one another.” [9MR, 303]

Praying for our pastors is very important. They are serving God and the attacks of the enemy are relentless. They must be covered in prayer on a daily basis.

Our prayers should be personalized by saying the title of pastor along with their name since they hold a position of sacred trust for God’s remnant church.

Here’s a suggestion for this month: Why not pray for our pastors by name using these seven scriptural passages:

  1. For Protection from Satan Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

  2. For Protection from Our Own Sinful Hearts But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. (James 1:14-15)

  3. For Deep Spiritual Encouragement For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

  4. For Wisdom If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)

  5. For Doctrinal Faithfulness By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14).

  6. For A Healthy Body But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27).

  7. For A Strong Marriage & Family Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church (1 Timothy 3:2-6)
