September, 2019 Carolina's 10,000 P5, part 1

The 10,000 President’s Prayer Partners is a fast-growing group of Carolina Conference constituents who take matters such as these to their knees. We invite you to join us, and make this monthly list a matter of prayer. Together we seek the Lord for His answers and provisions to every need we bring before Him.

1. SEPTEMBER CONFERENCE EVENTS AT NOSOCA PINES RANCH

HISPANIC CAMP MEETING II — CANCELLED!

Let’s uplift our more than 6,000 and growing membership of Hispanic Carolina church families as they HAD planned to come together this weekend for the second of two Hispanic camp meetings at Nosoca Pines Ranch. This special event was CANCELLED due to the serious threat of Hurricane Dorian and the travel risks it poses for many of our members – especially in South Carolina. Let’s pray that God will hold them safe and close through the storm, and ease their disappointment, since so many look forward to this gathering.

Every opportunity that I have to worship with our Spanish believers is such an inspiration to my heart. Our Spanish churches truly have embraced the misson of Embracing Carolina with the Compassionate Call of Christ. Active lay leadership, a passionate commitment to leading souls to Christ, and our dedicated team of 15 Hispanic pastors have been instrumental to the overall success of Carolina soul winning under the gifted leadership of Elder Sam Romero, our Hispanic Ministries Director.

CAROLINA MEN’S RETREAT

Pray for the men of our conference who choose to dedicate a weekend of spritual renewal and leadership in their homes and churches during our upcoming Carolina Men’s Retreat under the leadership of Elder Tony LaPorte, Men’s Ministries Director for the Carolina Conference.

This year’s theme will be on Going God’s Direction. Our presenter, James Reid, is a dynamic speaker and will be bringing a very practical message of recommitment to going in God’s direction. Relaxing Sabbath afternoon activities with canoeing, singing and a pontoon boat ride will add a special touch of joy to this weekend’s retreat. Let’s pray for the men of our Carolina family that they will come with a hungering for Christ’s righteousness and a thirst for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Let’s pray that they will leave this retreat with an inspiration to grow in their personal walk with Christ and a desire to faithfully serve and honor Him in their local church

2. PRAY FOR OUR TEACHERS AND CHURCH SCHOOLS

In her landmark book on the subject of Education, Ellen White penned the real mission of the schools of the prophets. May I suggest that this is the primary the purpose and function of every Adventist church school across North and South Carolina: “These schools were intended to serve as a barrier against the wide-spreading corruption, to provide for the mental and spiritual welfare of the youth, and to promote the prosperity of the nation by furnishing it with men [and women] qualified to act in the fear of God as leaders and counselors.” -- Education, Page 46

Would you join me in uplifting these schools and their teachers in our prayers this month?

3. PRAYING FOR OUR CHURCH DISTRICTS & PASTORS

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, these words of encouragement were penned for our churches: “Ask of me, and I will answer your requests. The promise is made on condition that the united prayers of the church are offered, and in answer to these prayers there may be expected a power greater than that which comes in answer to private prayer. The power given will be proportionate to the unity of the members and their love for God and for one another.” [9MR, 303]

Praying for our pastors is very important. They are serving God and the attacks of the enemy are relentless. They must be covered in prayer on a daily basis.

Our prayers should be personalized by saying the title of pastor along with their name since they hold a position of sacred trust for God’s remnant church.

Here’s a suggestion for this month: Why not pray for our pastors by name using these seven scriptural passages:

  1. For Protection from Satan Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

  2. For Protection from Our Own Sinful Hearts But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. (James 1:14-15)

  3. For Deep Spiritual Encouragement For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

  4. For Wisdom If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)

  5. For Doctrinal Faithfulness By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14).

  6. For A Healthy Body But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27).

  7. For A Strong Marriage & Family Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church (1 Timothy 3:2-6)
