April Newsletter

Hello, church communication leaders! Below are some items and ideas we hope will be useful in your ministry as a church leader and communicator. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or questions for future issues. May God bless you!

Resources for Members While You're Home

  • On the Conference website we are curating a list of our churches that are live-streaming services during this "stay-at-home" state-wide mandate, as well as a list of online content from our churches for Children's Ministry.

  • Don't forget about Project: Refresh for your youth and young adults. We are committed to keeping this content coming to you.

  • Kathy's Kids Storytime is even more popular than ever! We are rapidly approaching the 200,000 download mark. Available on all major podcasting outlets.

  • Joy in the Weeds: This is our newest podcast hosted by Beth Grissom and Kim Cove. It's created for Women's Ministry, but men are welcome to listen as well. This, too, is available on all major podcasting outlets. We most certainly need to find joy in the midst of this crisis.

  • Don't forget to download the Conference App (available on Apple, Google and Amazon Fire devices) to stay connected with the Conference during this time. Make sure notifications for the app are turned on so that we can push information out when there are urgent updates.

Adventist Online Giving

With everyone at home, social distancing and sheltering-in-place, this is the time to promote Adventist Online Giving. Even during your live-streamed services, you can still have the call for offering: Offering Appeals. Make sure your church is set up and then send the link out to your members. They even have an app for your smart device.

Zoom Meetings

If we had known about this pandemic, most of us would have probably moved our retirement funds over into Zoom stock. With a Zoom membership, you can hold a virtual prayer meeting, church service (if you're not streaming), youth groups, Bible studies, Pathfinder honors...etc. The list goes on and on...

Mevo

You've heard us talk about Mevo in past issues of this newsletter, but we wanted to bring it up again because it can be a great tool to assist with your newly discovered need to live stream. Mevo is one of the most cost-effective live-streaming cameras on the market. Available for purchase on their website and on Amazon. They offer two different models of this camera.

WE NEED YOUR STORIES!!!

We need your stories now more than ever. Let the whole Conference know about what you're doing to aid your members and your community in this crisis. We need inspirational stories to motivate each other as well as comfort and feed the soul.

We have already received reports from the Foster church about their community service as well as what Pastor Courtney Jimenez is doing to reach the children of Foster. Let us hear what you're doing!

To submit stories, scroll to the bottom of this newsletter and click the link, or go to the Communication Resource page HERE. Our stories are what connect us as we are separated at this time.

NEW VistaPrint Corporate

Several of our pastors and teachers have been requesting templates for business cards and letterhead. Great news! You can now easily order these through VistaPrint online at a reasonable price. Click the link below to begin.

Article Submissions

As always, we want to hear your stories! We have made it easy for you to submit articles for publication. Every article that is submitted is used, either in the Carolina Action, in the Southern Tidings, on the conference website or on the conference Facebook page.

Where the item is published is at the discretion of the Conference Communication Department.

PLEASE tell us what you, our local church communicators, want in next month's e-newsletter. These publications are meant to help you with your responsibilities in the local church, and we would be happy to cover any topic you have questions about. Let us know what you want to learn!
