4. PRAYING FOR CUBA CHURCH PEWS PROJECT OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST

CHURCH IN GUIRABITO, CUBA

Last month Carole and I went to Cuba for a weekend! We were there to dedicate a church building that was raised four years ago through funding from compassionate hearts of members across the Carolina Conference. This church is located in Guirabito on the eastern part of the island nation of Cuba. What a joyful Sabbath that was for us to celebrate this high and holy day with this dear family of over 150 new members of this organized church.

While we were there, we were told that there were no funds for seating for this special

occasion. So the Eastern Cuba Conference assisted them in being able to borrow/rent

some chairs in addition to the makeshift pews that were created from scrap pieces of wood (◄ as pictured). That Sabbath many of those makeshift pews had splinters – making it somewhat uncomfortable during the worship service.

It would cost approximately $90 per pew to have attractive wooden pews for this church. Each new pew could seat approximately 10 adults. What a wonderful gift we could provide for this new church if we could find 20 sponsors for 20 pews to accommodate this growing church family.

Join me in making this a matter of prayer that God will move generous hearts to assist in this project All gifts may be sent to the Carolina Conference and earmarked as our: Cuba Church Pews Project.

5. REMEMBERING AND KEEPING IN FOCUS OUR 2020 VISION

1. VISION V: FOSTER A CULTURE OF SOUL WINNING

PRAY AND COMMIT to leading at least 1000 new souls every year to embrace Christ and His truth as members of God’s remnant church. To accomplish this, every pastor will receive encouragement and support to:

  • Develop, communicate and implement an annual plan for kingdom growth in each church. This plan should intentionally include and involve the youth and young adults of the church.

  • Host or personally hold at least one evangelistic/reaping effort annually in their church district. Opportunities should be explored to involve students, youth and young adults who have participated in a ShareHim series of meetings. 

  • Follow with an extended plan of discipleship that includes an intentional involvement in the life and ministry of the church including that of being an actively engaged disciple-maker.

We hold the conviction that the Holy Spirit will bring people into the church by the power of proclaiming the truths of God’s Word. However, only the power of compassionate love will keep them connected to Christ and the mission of His church.
