6. TWO VERY SPECIAL OVERSEAS PRAYER REQUESTS:

A. SPECIAL AND URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FROM ADVENTIST WORLD AVIATION (AWA)

Adventist World Aviation is a ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with headquarters in Smithfield, North Carolina. AWA has been a valuable partner in ministry with the Carolina Conference.

In a recent conversation with Elder Ric Swaningson, the President and CEO of AWA, he asked me to remember a critical situation which is impacting the pilot-missionaries of AWA in Nicaragua.

Norman and Nancy Hansen along with their three children returned to that country after having come home on furlough. Despite the instability and volatility of the government in that country, they have been welcomed back by the people they serve as well as the government officials who know them and the humanitarian work they are doing.

It is an ongoing concern of our AWA family that the Hansen’s are safe and that no harm come to them whether it comes from the government or from locals who might resent them being there.

Please pray for this very serious situation and for God’s protective intervention in the mission and ministry of the Hansen family.

B. PRAYERS FOR CHURCH PEWS PROJECT - A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH IN GUIRABITO, CUBA

This prayer request is one that I have chosen to repeat from my April Issue of the President’s Prayer Partners. We have received approximately $400 toward this project.

Earlier this year (in April) Carole and I went to Cuba for a weekend! We were there to dedicate a church building located in Guirabito on the eastern part of the island nation of Cuba. This church was raised four years ago through funding from compassionate hearts of members across the Carolina Conference.

What a joyful Sabbath that was for us to celebrate this high and holy Sabbath with this dear family of over 150 new members of this organized church.

While we were there, we were told that there were no funds for seating for this special occasion. So the Eastern Cuba Conference assisted them in being able to borrow/rent some chairs in addition to the makeshift pews that were created from scrap pieces of wood (See attached pictures). That Sabbath many of those makeshift pews had splinters – making it somewhat uncomfortable during the worship service.

I was told that it would cost approximately $90 per unit to have attractive wooden pews for this church. Each new pew could seat approximately 10 adults.

What a wonderful gift we could provide for this new church if we could find 20 sponsors for 20 pews to accommodate this growing church family.

That’s approximately $1,800 to complete this project -- a small amount for our entire conference family to assist this church family with their church.

Join me once again in making this a matter of prayer that God will move generous hearts to assist in this project. What a wonderful Christmas gift it would be to provide this church with some comfortable seating! All gifts may be sent to the Carolina Conference and earmarked as our:

A Christmas Gift for Cuba ~ Church Pews!

Thank you for your generous heart in praying for success of this project!
