December, 2019 Carolina 10,000 P5, part 2

The Ministerial Spouses Association Department

Starting with the April, 2019 issue of P5, we began highlighting a department of the conference each month – not so much as to give a full length report of all that they have been or are accomplishing, but rather to simply uplift all our leaders and their faithful service in our prayers.

This month, I invite you to prayerfully uplift our Carolina Conference Ministerial Spouses Association Department under the leadership of my wife along with the officers of this association.

Carole Louis, Director

Mission Statement

Choosing to reflect Christ through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit

The Carolina Conference Ministerial Spouses’ Association was formed to assist spouses of currently employed ministers in the following:

  • Foster personal and spiritual growth

  • Clarify of the role of a minister’s spouse

  • Develop a team ministry uniquely suited to her/his interests and abilities

  • Train as a paraprofessional in the ministry

  • Find fellowship and a support system

  • Develop closer home relationships

  • Support our spouses by praying for and encouraging them

  • Ensure our marriage is a living testimony of Christ’s love for His Church

A Message from the Director

It is my desire that we as spouses remember that our ministry is a team ministry. We each bring talents and abilities to that ministry that will make it more complete. In the garden it took Adam and Eve to represent Christ, Adam to reflect His strength and Eve to reflect His gentleness. Bringing souls to the feet of Jesus is an honored and sacred responsibility. May we continue to shepherd His flock until we see our Savior return and hear His precious words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

5. Saturated with the Word

As a President’s Prayer Partner, we again invite you to truly be a people of the Word. As Seventh-day Adventists, we embrace 28 Fundamental truths that are based on the Bible alone. This is the second cycle in our emphasis on these vital beliefs that are centered in Christ as our Savior and as our Lord.

Let’s continue to place His Word prayerfully in our hearts each day of this month.

I carry a set of these passages with me in my car and repeat them aloud as I drive from place to place. My goal is to prayerfully say one verse at least five times a day for a week, thus embracing the promise of God’s Word — “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalm 119:11 Repeat these passages over and over till they become a part of your very being. Of course, you can always choose to do more. Prayerfully consider how you can saturate your soul and make His Word a part of your heart every day.

FUNDAMENTAL BELIEF #5: God, the Holy Spirit

God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption. He is as much a person as are the Father and the Son. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christ’s life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God. Sent by the Father and the Son to be always with His children, He extends spiritual gifts to the church, empowers it to bear witness to Christ, and in harmony with the Scriptures leads it into all truth.

  1. Psalm 51: 10-11 (NKJV) “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

  2. Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV) — “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

  3. John 14: 16-18 (NKJV) “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

  4. 2 Peter 1:21 (NKJV) —“For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
